Scholarship Fund

Even with the Montgomery GI Bill, many soldiers still lack the financial means to pursue their greater educational goals. The 28th Infantry Division Association Scholarship Fund was established to help bridge the gap and allow our soldiers access to additional educational opportunities by helping them cover educational expenses such as books, room and board, lab fees, etc.

An annual $500 scholarship is given on behalf of the Association through the Pennsylvania National Guard Scholarship Awards Program. Applications are available in the spring from the Pennsylvania National Guard Scholarship Fund, Building 0-47, Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, Pennsylvania with a deadline for submission of June 30th. The scholarship is open to all 28th Infantry Division members or the children of members who were either killed in action or permanently disabled while on active duty.

Beginning in the spring of 2012, a second annual scholarship will be given. Named for our fellow soldier, friend, past president and executive director, the Walter K. Chmiola Jr. Memorial Scholarship will be offered to a Division Soldier and will also be funded through our 28th Infantry Division Scholarship Fund.

The Association hosts an Annual Benefit Dinner and Chinese Auction each spring to benefit the Scholarship Fund. More information about the Benefit Dinner can be found here.

Interested benefactors can also donate directly to the scholarship fund by sending contributions to:
